The dream about a complete nature experience in a quiet and peaceful environment comes true in Gla Forest nature reserve. Gla Forest is situated on the border area between Arvika, Eda, Säffle and Årjäng in Western Värmland. Experience the 28 000 ha sized wilderness area with winding watercourses, great and small lakes, and vast forests. Hike along any of the 300 km long trails, you can choose anything from a short morning stroll to tours that last a week. . If you go for a longer walk, you are almost guaranteed to see an elk. Hare, fox, roe, badger and lynx are also common. With some luck, you will hear the wolf howling at night. During winters rich with snow a 5 km ski track is prepared with its startingpoint in Lenungshammar. If you enjoy canoeing, there are nice canoeing routes passing through several of the next to 80 lakes situated in the reserve, with great fishing opportunities and unique nature experiences. During cold winters the lakes are froozen and the ices in the area are excellent for skating or jigging. Try tenting in the area, spending the night under the open sky, sleeping in a windbreak or using any of the overnight cabins. In Lenungshammar there are an information centre with a camping ground, a mini store, a cafeteria, canoes and bikes for hire, showers and laundry facilities, and a playground for the children. There is also a new nice nature and culture path starting from Karl XII:s coffee house. The path is eay to walk and is also suitable for prams. If you bring your caravan or camper, there is a camping ground in Lenungshammar with nice places embedded in the forest, just within a stone's throw from the lake Övre Gla. If you want to stay in a tent and be close to all facilities, we recommend the camping ground situated next to the pond near the information centre. There are also cottages to let in Lenungshammar, camping cabins and cabins for self-maintenance, as well as privately owned cottages in the area. Tailor you own experience or let the staff at the information centre help you with accommodation and suggestions for activities.
